La utilidad de la Cosmetología de Harry, como libro de consulta a la vez completo y conciso, está corroborada por su continua popularidad en todas las partes del mundo: estamos convencidos de que, una vez más, esta séptima edición hallará una calurosa acogida.

En el prólogo de la sexta edición aventuramos la opinión de que los progresos importantes científicos afectarían al desarrollo de los cosméticos puros. Desgraciadamente se trató de un leve amanecer y no encontramos justificación de cambios profundos en estas áreas especializadas; las fórmulas, antiguas forman parte del imprescindible fundamento histórico -además, es erróneo considerar lo más moderno como inevitablemente lo mejor-. Todas las partes del libro han sido redactadas de nuevo y puestas al día. La continuidad de los capítulos se ha hecho más lógica, y se han añadido nuevos capítulos sobre la buena práctica de fabricación y el más importante de los ingredientes: el agua.

Especialmente se han redactado totalmente de nuevo los capítulos básicos de la piel, dientes, cabello y uñas para proporcionar una base científica actualizada. Con relación a esto, es oportuno resaltar, en palabras de una edición anterior, que tratamos con las "anormalidades normales" y relacionadas con aquellas desviaciones de la normalidad de la piel, cabello y dientes que se presentan o tienden a presentarse bajo las tensiones normales y cotidianas de trabajo, uso, suciedad, exposición y clima, sin excluir tensiones psicológicas.
